History

Productos Industriales de Leon, PILSAC, is dedicated to the production of alkaline food grade gelatin from calf skin. The company was founded on April 1, 1977 by a local group of businessmen who saw a promising future in the gelatin manufacturing business by being able to supply the raw material from the tanneries located in the region.

For many years the administration tried to have the factory running smoothly assuring the stockholders a return on their investment, but problems in management led to the decision of selling the factory to Grupo VISE, who still owns the plant.

In its beginnings the factory produced a total of 10 tons a month of gelatin of a medium quality. With the  years and the improvement of the production process, the company has been growing steadily, driving production, revenue and income higher and higher every year. Today, the physical and chemical properties of the product have improved substantially which have made it very competitive and with more market demand.
